Katy Irmen Spotlight Blog Post
Meet one of the members of our staff, Katy Irmen! Originally from Wisconsin, Katy has been at The Power House since December 2017. She is fantastic at creating a sense of community. She loves that everyone learns something new every day, and she can apply this new knowledge towards her own training or use it to help someone else in their fitness at The Power House. She also loves the Kai Zen approach that The Power House has towards growth, and this is what drew her towards The Power House at first. She believes that when you stop being curious about your fitness, you become stagnate as curiosity sparks growth. She embodies the Kai Zen teaching of 1% improvement every day and appreciates that the staff and members of the community focus on improving every day as well.
Katy teaches Yoga, CrossFit classes, Power HIIT classes, and mobility. Her favorite class to teach is yoga. Her favorite post-workout meal is anything 🙂 Her biggest inspiration are her two young sons. Fun fact about Katy is that she is the current record holder at Delavan-Darien middle school for the flexed-arm hang.
For new members, Katy recommends to “lean into discomfort.” Also, she advises new members to ask questions because every staff member is looking to help and to share knowledge.
