“I increasingly realized the importance of happiness and inspiration while working out, and the incredible energy in a Powerhouse class provided me with the necessary stimulus to get through some particularly brutal sessions.” –Annie Hart
Annie Hart is a cross-country skiing Olympian who works out at The Power House and a beloved member of our community. Leading up to her 2018 Pyeong Chang Olympic debut, Annie began training here in 2015. The Saint Paul Academy graduate of 2010 spent her time with owner Max Lipset while doing some elite training to focus on the movements necessary to excel on skis. As the “off” season for skiing is only six weeks in length, Annie focused her time in Minnesota doing private and group classes at The Power House in order to make the most of her off season.
She was able to combine her team training with CrossFit to make her a well-rounded athlete. Annie also worked with Max to find some key mental changes so she could compete better at every race. She says, “I think that CrossFit really helped my mental stamina. With AMRAP or For Time Workouts, there is nothing else to do but keep moving. I found that I was able to transpose this mental philosophy—just continue chipping away at a workout until it is done—to racing with great results.” Annie Hart is a great example of the results that can be seen after working at The Power House. She is able to embody the Japanese Kai-Zen of constant improvement as she sees consistent rewards for her efforts.
Great work, Annie! We love having you work out with us here at The Power House!
